As an architect, designer and researcher, Sevil Yazici is fascinated by technology and innovation driven through design thinking. She investigates possibilities for enhancing human lives in terms of rehabilitating the built environment and developing tools & techniques to improve current architectural practice.

She received her Bachelor of Architecture Degree from Istanbul Technical University and her Master of Architecture & Urbanism Degree from the London Architectural Association Design Research Lab (DRL). Her thesis project “Intelligent Bi-Stable Structure System” developed with the team Zero.1 (Yazici, S., Chima, J., Nikolakaki, S., and Leung, E.) is granted with a Patent in the UK and published widely around the world.

She has experience in projects that differ in sizes and requirements, including urban, building and product design scales. She worked in various offices and practices for all phases of the design process. She was involved and led numerous projects from concept to construction phases at Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) in London, including d'Leedon in Singapore, Eleftheria Square Design in Cyprus, Pierres Vives Building in France, Sheikh Saud Al-Thani Villa Mosque in Qatar, as well as winning competition schemes, including Kartal-Pendik Masterplan in Turkey, King Abdullah II House of Culture & Art in Jordan and Ocean Terminal Extension in Hong Kong.

She completed her PhD studies at Istanbul Technical University and developed a software model, by bringing issues related to materialization to the beginning of the architectural design process. She won "The Best Thesis Award of the Year" with her PhD dissertation titled "A Material-Based Integrated Computational Design Model in Architecture", which is currently pending for a Patent. She also won UK Alumni Awards 2016 in Professional Achievement by British Council.

Her work is awarded, published widely and exhibited in various countries including UK, USA, Netherlands, India, Chile, Turkey, Colombia and China. Her publications include Architectural Association, Frame, Wiley, Turkish Chamber of Architects, ACSA, eCAADe, Sigradi and more.

She is the Founder and Principal of ParaMaterial, the interdisciplinary architecture, design and research initiative where she investigates methodologies in parallel to her research interest. Meanwhile, she continues on practicing in design & construction industry.
